I love the idea. Maybe you could also hang some things from the top-inside of the tent so that the baby won't feel trapped. I also think that the central idea of "keeping things out and keeping baby in." I know that pets can pose a danger to children even if your pet was just being playful.

If I had a child I know that I would be worried about my cat jumping in the crib and the baby reacting by maybe pulling its tail or hitting it. All it would take is a curious move like that and the baby will be scratched by the cat.
